China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations Visits AJCS

On Sunday, 8 March 2015, a delegation from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations visited AlJazeera Centre for Studies in Doha, resulting in a fruitful discussion and exchange of information.

On Sunday, 8 March 2015, AlJazeera Centre for Studies (AJCS) hosted a delegation from the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR) think tank. The delegation included the Institute's President, Mr. Ji Zhiye, and a number of its researchers. The visit to AJCS was an opportunity to exchange information and views on major regional and international issues of common interest.

Dr. Salah Eddin Elzein, Director of AlJazeera Centre for Studies, briefed the delegation on AJCS and its vision, as well as the principles guiding its work within the larger AlJazeera Media Network. A fruitful discussion followed, with researchers from the two institutions exchanging questions and answers on a number of issues. These issues included the US’ strategic shift from the Arab world to Asia, US-China relations, recent developments in China's position on the Palestinian issue, transformations in the Arab world, the future of Islamic State in the region, China's growing role in Afghanistan and China’s potential role in the Iranian nuclear deal. The visit ended with a shared commitment to future collaboration on research questions of mutual interest.
