Al Jazeera Centre for Studies has released the third edition of Academic Research on Al Jazeera, covering the period from 1996 to 2012. The first edition was released in 2011. AJCS welcomes the contributions of researchers and scholars interested in including their research and academic work on Al Jazeera (e.g. PhD and master’s theses and published scientific research) in future editions. To submit contributions, please contact the Publishing Department at AJCS at prs@aljazeera.net.

Divided into four sections, the book presents doctoral and masters theses as well as books written about Al Jazeera since its establishment to the present day.

65 PhD theses were surveyed in the first section. The book’s methodology is to introduce the title of the thesis, the name of the researcher and his or her university, the country in which the university is, and the year and language in which the research was completed; and then provide a summary that presents a thorough vision of the content of the thesis.

The second section, however, applied the same methodology but focused on master’s theses on Al Jazeera. It surveyed 65 theses as well.

In the section dedicated to books, the guide included 49 books with pictures of their covers, their titles, authors, year of publication, languages, number of pages, a detailed description, and their authors’ biographies.

The fourth section focuses on research papers and surveys 31 papers. This is the first work of its kind in Al Jazeera’s history and seeks to survey academic research completed or documented in Arab and international universities on Al Jazeera Media Network. It represents an important methodological research tool for the research community, especially university students and researchers, that contributes to the expansion of their knowledge of Al Jazeera and prevents them from repeating research that has been conducted or is in the process.

Moreover, the guide benefits Al Jazeera Media Network itself as it clarifies the significance of its media efforts to universities and practical and academic research institutions and embodies its presence and impact.
