The seminar under the title, “A Strategic Revision of the Nakba on its 70th Anniversary”, concluded that a solution to the Palestinian cause and the restoration of the rights of the Palestinian people are still possible despite the imbalance of power between the Palestinians and Israelis. Speakers indicated that this is all dependant on the creation of a strategy for the Palestinian national struggle that takes into consideration Palestinian unity, the rearrangement and reactivation of Palestinian institutions and the study of regional and international conditions that can be capitalised on.

With the participation of a host of researchers and experts, the seminar began with a presentation of the outcomes of seventy years of failures and successes in the course of the Palestinian cause. The speakers outlined the main failures as being the Israeli occupation of the land, the displacement of the people, the judaisation of Palestinian cities, the division of resistance factions and poor Arab support for Palestinians. Successes were represented by Palestinian steadfastness and resistance, the preservation of Palestinian identity, the upholding of rights and factors like national liberation, the right of return and restoration of stolen properties.

The seminar concluded its discussions with a forecast of the future of the Palestinian cause. Speakers indicated that the long-term future should witness the liberation of Palestinian territories as this is- according to them- a righteous and just cause. However, in the mid and near futures and due to weak Palestinian institutions, the dispersion of the national movement, the imbalance of power between the Arabs and Israelis, reduced attention to the Palestinian issue on the global scale, the proposed settlement projects which do not ensure even basic Palestinian rights, especially what has become known in the media as the Deal of the Century, the Palestinian situation will remain as is between pressure and resistance. However, they stressed that the only guarantee that will prevent the liquidation of this cause is the insistence of the Palestinian people on their rights.
