Al Jazeera Centre for Studies is participating in the Arabic Book Fair in Europe, set to take place in Sweden, with a webinar entitled, “An introduction to AJCS publications & Discussion of Qatar’s Resilience,” on Monday, 31 August 2020. It will take place at 7:00 pm Stockholm local time (8:00 pm Mecca time) and will be broadcast live on Al Jazeera Mubasher and live-streamed on AJCS’s social media platforms.

Speaking in the webinar will be AJCS researchers Mohamed Erraji and Haoues Taguia. Erraji will present an introduction to the centre, its objectives, the nature of its work, and its research interests. He will also shed light on its publications, the criteria it applies for the selection of topics, and the process of editing and publishing.

Taguia, on the other hand, will discuss Qatar’s Resilience: A Model of Resisting Blockade and the Power of Small States (published by AJCS in 2018). The book presents Qatar’s experience in withstanding the blockade imposed on it by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt since June 2017, revealing the uniqueness of Qatar’s management of crisis and resistance and bringing to light Qatar’s strategies as a small state overcoming the blockade’s economic, political, and security impacts. The book was preceded by The Blockade of Qatar: The Contexts and Repercussions of the Gulf Crisis, which was published during the first three months of the Gulf crisis. It delves into the reasons and context of the blockade, uncovers regional and international interactions, and discusses its trajectories and implications.
