Al Jazeera Centre for Studies is releasing a semi-annual peer-reviewed journal at the beginning of January 2023 under the title, Al Jazeera li Dirasat al-Itisal wa al-I’lam (“Al Jazeera for Communication and Media Studies”), for the publishing of research and studies related to the field of communication and media.
The journal is a product of the centre’s effort towards and interest in studying the media phenomenon and its societal interactions since the centre’s establishment in 2006. This effort and interested grew with the formation of a unit dedicated to media studies in 2013 and the research experience and accurate knowledge of the methodological, theoretical and practical needs of the domain of communication and media studies that it has accumulated over the years.
In its published research and studies, Al Jazeera li Dirasat al-Itisal wa al-I’lam adopts cross-disciplinary methodological approaches and opens a window for book reviews and new publications related to communication and media. It also presents summaries of theses, and covers seminars and conferences dealing with current media issues.
Moreover, the journal dedicates a section to the Modern Media Dictionary, which is an electronic dictionary published by Al Jazeera Centre for Studies available to online readers. Its scientific material will be published in upcoming issues with the contribution of a number of academics and researchers specialised in lexicographic studies; and it will be supplemented and enriched with new terminology in the field of media and communication in order to keep pace with the flow of terminology in this constantly evolving field of knowledge.
Al Jazeera li Dirasat al-Itisal wa al-I’lam will be published at the beginning of January and June every year in Arabic. Researchers specialising in this field can get in touch through the following email: AJCM@ALJAZEERA.NET.
