Al Jazeera Centre for Studies is taking part in the 2025 Doha International Book Fair as part of Al Jazeera Network’s pavilion, located at Hall H5-31. The fair, which opened today at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, will run from 8 to 17 May 2025, under the theme “From Engraving to Writing”. The centre is showcasing a diverse collection of research publications and specialised studies, including the latest issues of its journals Lubab and Al Jazeera li Dirasat al-Itisal wa al-I'lam [Al Jazeera Journal for Communication and Media Studies].

Visitors will find 125 titles from the centre’s catalogue, featuring both newly released research works and archival publications addressing political and economic issues in the region and beyond. Among this year’s highlighted titles is Ad-Dawr al-Iqtisadi lil-Mar'a al-Qatariyya: Al-Mashari' al-Saghira wa al-Mutawassita Namudhajan [The Economic Role of Qatari Women: A Case Study of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises] by Al-Anoud Al Thani. A special book signing event with the author will be held at the Al Jazeera pavilion. The book explores Qatari women’s contributions to economic development through SMEs.

As part of efforts to promote cross-cultural engagement, the pavilion of Qatar’s Ministry of Culture will host the launch of Turkish translations of two books published by AJCS: Tajrubat al-Hukm ar-Rashid fi Qatar: Rawafe’ at-Tanmiya al-Mustadama wa at-Tamkin al-Mujtama’i (1995-2013) [The Experience of Good Governance in Qatar: Levers of Sustainable Development and Social Empowerment (1995–2013)] and Ath-Thawabit wa at-Tahawwulat fi Masarat Tatawwur al-Mar’a al-Qatariya (1995-2013) [Constants and Transformations in the Course of Qatari Women’s Evolvement: 1995-2013]. These translations were completed under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with AJCS, contributing to Qatar’s cultural presence on the international stage. The translated editions are available at the Ministry’s pavilion and at the Nation’s Library in Ankara, Turkey, located within the Presidential Complex.

Al Jazeera’s pavilion also offers visitors the chance to engage with authors and researchers, discuss geopolitical topics, and explore the latest research publications.

This 34th edition of the Doha International Book Fair is the largest in its history in terms of international participation, with 522 publishing houses from 43 countries—surpassing last year’s figures. Palestine is the guest of honour for the first time, represented by 11 Palestinian publishers. Held under the theme “From Engraving to Writing”, the event features over 166000 titles and, for the first time, a British participation. The fair also includes the launch of a professional literary exchange program, the announcement of the Book Fair Awards for authors and publishers, and a range of cultural and interactive events. Syrian bookstores from the Halabouni Market are also participating for the first time. Visitors can benefit from various services including a reading guide, an “Ask Me” station, free parking, and book-carrying assistance. The fair is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays.
