For the third year in a row, AlJazeera Centre for Studies (AJCS) has been rated sixth out of 521 of the best think tanks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The 2014 Global Go-To Think Tank Index (GGTTI) report, issued by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania, also rated AJCS as the topmost Arab think tank operating in the Gulf region.

On 22 January 2015, AJCS hosted the Doha launch of the GGTTI 2014 as part of a simultaneous and global group of launches. During the Doha launch, a panel of top researchers and experts also discussed the role of think tanks in shaping social and political discourse in the Middle East.

The GGTTI is the result of combined efforts of over 3,000 think tanks and media and academic experts. It is considered one of the most significant tools used to measure the performance of rated think tanks and uses several key criteria, including effective management of research programs, mobilisation of financial and human resources to implement these programs, impact of research output on society and policy-makers, magnitude and quality of research production and the number of online visits to the organisations web platform.

AlJazeera Centre For Studies, established in 2006, conducts in-depth analysis of current affairs at both the regional and global levels. Its research agenda focuses primarily on geo-politics and strategic developments in the Arab world and surrounding regions. As a think-tank extension of the AlJazeera Network, the Centre endeavours to conduct research and build a relevant, insightful, and in-depth knowledge base for the entire organisation.
