On Tuesday, 17 April 2018, Al Jazeera Centre for Studies hosted Dr. Helen Lackner, a professor at the University of London and an expert in Yemeni affairs, in a roundtable discussion about the humanitarian and political conditions in Yemen. Lackner revealed the deterioration of humanitarian conditions, the suffering of inhabitants, and the lack of food and medicine in several Yemeni provinces. She also indicated President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s lack of influence in the political and military scenes, and hinted that Yemen is important to Iran but not as important as Syria. The centre’s researchers conferred the professor’s views and offered analysis of the regional and international roles in the course and future of the crisis.
