Kristian Coates Ulrichsen is Fellow for the Middle East at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy in Houston, Texas. He is the author of four books on the international relations and political economy of the Gulf, including Qatar and the Arab Spring (2014) and The United Arab Emirates: Power, Politics, and Policymaking (2017).
