A new round of talks in the Doha Forum began earlier this year, sponsored by Qatar and with international and Arab support, to attempt to deal with the Darfur crisis. The Forum appealed to the parties involved in the conflict to address the crisis, and it tried to mediate between the Sudanese government on the one hand, and the Darfuri rebels and militias on the other.
