On 25 August 2016, the Chinese embassy in Doha hosted a group of AlJazeera Centre for Studies researchers for a discussion with the Chinese government’s special envoy for Syria, Xie Xiaoyan.
The meeting focused on the Syrian crisis and its local, regional and international implications. Syria’s political future and possible solutions to end the crisis were also discussed. Mr. Xiaoyan presented his country’s vision on events in Syria and highlighted his country’s role in humanitarian aid and the push for a negotiated political settlement.
