With the second round of US sanctions on Iran approaching, Al Jazeera Centre for Studies (AJCS) and Qatar University's Gulf Studies Center are teaming up with Al Jazeera Mubasher to organise a public seminar entitled "US Sanctions on Iran and Future Prospects".

The seminar will shed light on the internal and external impacts of US sanctions on Iran and assess the Iranian economy's ability to withstand the sanctions. It will also discuss the political and social influence of the sanctions on the state and the society and whether Iran's announced plans and programmes can help absorb the shock of the sanctions and overcome the relevant repercussions.

Furthermore, the seminar themes will touch on the potential impacts of the sanctions on Tehran's regional and international relations and influence in the region. Another theme of discussion will be the future mechanisms that the GCC countries, Turkey and the European Union will use to deal with Iran under these sanctions.

The seminar will be held on 30 October 2018 at Qatar University's Ibn Khaldoon Hall, and will be attended by select elite of researchers and experts from the Arab world, Turkey and Iran.
