Al Jazeera Centre for Studies and the Centre for Mediterranean and International Studies are hosting a research seminar on 16-17 February 2019 in Tunis in collaboration with Al Jazeera Mubasher. Under the title, “Political Transformations in the Maghreb: Outcomes and Prospects,” the seminar will bring together an elite group of researchers and experts.

The seminar will shed light on the outcomes of political reform in the Maghreb countries eight years after the Arab Spring and present the varying trajectories of the political reforms. It also seeks to explore the possibilities of cooperation between the Maghreb countries and the means of overcoming disputes that hinder integration.

Furthermore, the seminar will discuss relations between the Maghreb countries and the Middle East region on one hand and international powers on the other as well as cross-border threats such as “terrorism”, drug trafficking, and refugees.

Finally, the seminar will conclude with a forecast of the future of the Maghreb and the role of civil societies in its formation.
