Tribe and State in Africa

Based on theoretical concepts developed by sociologists and anthropologists such as Emile Durkheim and E. E. Evans-Pritchard, this book establishes a debate, by using Ibn Khaldun’s heritage and investing in the concept of “tribal solidarity” (asabiyyah) in order to understand the co-existence and clash between the dominant tribe in Africa and the modern state.
