AJCS webinar to examine indications and effects of Raisi’s election as Iran’s new president

8 July 2021

Al Jazeera Centre for Studies and Al Jazeera Mubasher are hosting a webinar entitled, “Raisi’s Election: Indications and Effects,” on Sunday, 11 July 2021, at 6:00 pm Mecca standard time with the participation of a select group of experts and researchers.

The webinar will discuss the challenges facing President-elect Ebrahim Raisi, including Iran’s rates of development, the economic sanctions imposed by the United States, the decline of the national currency, the rise of inflation and unemployment rates, and the deterioration of living standards. In addition, he will need to perform politically in a way that shows he is the president of all Iranians and not simply hard-line Iran, and make accommodations on the domestic front.

Moreover, the new president will have to deal with other challenges on the foreign front, including the nuclear portfolio, relations with the United States and the European Union, and Iran’s regional status.

The webinar will explore all of these themes and more, and will be broadcast on Al Jazeera Mubasher and live-streamed on AJCS’s digital platforms.
