A delegation of Chinese researchers and academics headed by Professor Yang Jiemian, head of the Shanghai Institute for International Studies, visited the AlJazeera Center for Studies on Wednesday 19 February 2014 as part of a GCC tour to include Qatar and Kuwait.
The delegation discussed the characteristics of the Chinese strategy regarding the Arab World in general and the Arab Gulf area in particular, and the obstacles and challenges faced by this strategy.
The discussion between the Chinese delegation and the center’s researchers centered around the nature of the Chinese relations with the United States of America and the Russian Federation and their implications on the Middle Eastern files, especially the Iranian and Syrian issues.
At the conclusion of the visit, the director of the Al-Jazeera Center for Studies, Dr. Salah Eddine Elzein invited the Chinese delegation to attend the 8th AlJazeera Forum, which will be held in May 2014, and welcomed their opinion and interaction in its sessions.
