On Thursday, January 28th this month, the Al Jazeera Centre for Studies in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania celebrate launching the 9th Annual Global Go to Think Tank Index in the Qatari capital Doha. This celebration is followed by a session entitled "Why Think Tanks are important for the public and policy-makers?" Speaking by Dr. Salah al-Din Zein: the head of Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, and Dr. Abdul Aziz Sakr: the head of the Gulf Research Center, and Dr. Matthew Hull: researcher in the Atlantic Council, and the non-resident fellow Rafik Hariri: the Middle East.
Since 2006, it is noteworthy that the program of the research institutions and civil society organizations at the American University of Pennsylvania have the classification of the world's leading Think Tanks in order to reach a better understanding of the role these think tanks play on the level of governments and civil societies, and they issue an annual index of the most important influential studies centers at the regional and global levels.
To achieve this goal, the Civil Society Program has prepared data of the think tanks around the world in 6828 tanks. Therefore, the arbitrators network includes 25,000 journalists, policy-makers, private and public donors, and specialists are asked to evaluate these tanks to know the most influential of them.
For the index in 2015, it has been classified according to the previous mechanism. In the timing concurrently on 28 January, 60 thin tanks and international and regional governmental Organizations around the world, including the United Nations and the World Bank, organize a celebration to announce the 9TH Annual of this Index. The Al Jazeera Centre for Studies celebrates in this version and makes a session after it in this context.
The celebration of The Al Jazeera Centre for Studies and the session are held in Al-Jazeera Centre Auditorium in the Qatari capital Doha at seven pm on Thursday, January 28, and it is broadcasted on Al-Jazeera Live.
