Al Jazeera Centre for Studies, in collaboration with the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean Review (BSEMR), the University of Nicosia and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is organising an international conference set to take place on 27 and 28 November 2024, titled “Discussing Stability and Peace in Turbulent Times: Local, Regional and International Ramifications of the War on Gaza”. The conference will be held at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, with virtual participation options available for researchers and experts unable to attend in person.
This conference marks the one-year anniversary of the Israeli war on Gaza, which resulted in extensive destruction and thousands of casualties. Key topics will include strategies for ending the conflict, prospects for reconstruction, and the role of international and humanitarian organisations in supporting affected communities. The event will also address the challenges faced by journalists in conflict zones.
Furthermore, the conference will examine the war's impact on the Arab-Israeli normalisation process, which was gaining momentum prior to the outbreak of hostilities, and will conclude with discussions on the future of the Palestinian cause and the viability of a two-state solution.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with experts and researchers from various countries, sharing insights on potential solutions to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and strategies for achieving sustainable stability in the Middle East.
Sessions will be broadcast live on Al Jazeera Mubasher and live-streamed on Al Jazeera Centre for Studies' social media platforms.
